Despite having been into game dev for a couple years, this is the first time I've ever packaged and released anything! The 2 week limitation was really helpful, as was having Luke modeling everything.
We used vertex colors to drive the materials, so the only 'textures' in the whole game are the arrow alpha mask and the small panning glyphs on either side of the player's 'cage'.
The only major challenge I faced during this project was with the time charge mechanic and sound design - it required a lot of programming and extra care while designing the sounds to make sure they work at normal speed/pitch and slowed.
I also chose to keep the 'gun' sound pretty small, because there was already so much going on. In retrospect I sort of wish I had designed it as a laser-tag gun which just triggers sensors instead of implying it's actually firing projectiles at targets, but alas the 2 weeks came to an end! I'm happy to have the project done despite not being proud of that specific sound/aspect of it. Live and learn.
